About us

Brighton Aldridge Community Academy (BACA) opened in September 2010, and a year later moved into its brand-new building, equipped with new sports, entrepreneurship and IT facilities, and a dedicated sixth form area.

BACA is in the unique position of having two higher-education establishments, Sussex and Brighton Universities, in its immediate proximity. This enables the academy to work closely with them, share their expertise, access their resources, and give students a taste of Higher Education.

Are you passionate about teaching Spanish and shaping young minds? We're seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Spanish to join our dynamic team at a vibrant secondary school in Brighton.

The successful applicant will be expected to plan, prepare and deliver differentiated Spanish lessons to meet the needs of individual learners at varying levels of learning ability. It will also be important to assess and evaluate class and homework to report these back to senior leaders should appropriate action be required. The start date for this role will be September 2024.

Key Duties:

• Using knowledge of academy policy, plan, deliver, evaluate and assess lessons differentiated to meet the needs of individuals and groups promoting progression, continuity and quality of learning;

• Using a variety of suitable teaching and learning styles and clearly communicating learning objectives and expectations;

• Using relevant classroom management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place;

• Using agreed procedures for assessing, recording and reporting on progress and attainment of students;

• Preparing students for internal and external tests and examinations informing and using whole-school data to raise expectation and standards of achievement;

• Setting and effectively marking homework;

• Working as a team member, planning co-operatively, sharing information, ideas and expertise; playing an active part in school meetings and working groups.
