Job Description:
- To participate in the delivery of a high-quality responsive ultrasound service, managing an unpredictable workload according to department needs for the Trust.
- To be responsible for safely carrying out a wide variety of obstetric ultrasound scans as required: to include fetal anomaly screening, NT measurement, early pregnancy and third trimester, including GROW and supporting fetal medicine consultant / SGA clinic.
- To join a multidisciplinary team participating in service delivery, teaching, research, audit and management activities as appropriate.
- To independently undertake ultrasound examinations in line with FASP standards, communicating the results to patients and other staff. Provide advice on future patient management / appropriate clinical decisions where appropriate for example: further actions or referrals for further imaging, urgent/immediate referral in accordance with local and National guidelines.
- In conjunction with clinical lead to provide high quality training to relevant staff in all aspects of obstetric ultrasound.
- To maintain a high level of professionalism and act as a source of expertise to other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Actively monitor and provide support for any updates or when creating guidelines for current area of work/supervision in line with Trust protocols.
- To be participate responsible as a member of the obstetric ultrasound team for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes and pathways of care for women and their babies.
- Undertake appraisal / PDP and understands SMART objective setting and engagement in constructive feedback.
- Act as a resource providing information, advice and teaching of all aspects of care.
- To report any equipment failures or untoward occurrences to the line manager in a timely manner.
