Your new role
Southend City Council are looking to appoint a full-time, experienced Early Help Family Support Practitioner in a 2-year fixed term capacity.The Supporting Families Team (formerly Early Help Family Support) has a key role in supporting providers of Level 2 Early Help.
The role involves supporting families in Southend, using restorative practise and principles, to bring about change and help families achieve their support outcomes. The Early Help Practitioner will work with families to complete restorative whole assessments, collaborate with families to produce Family Plans and work with a range of professionals to help the family achieve their support goals.The role involves working with adults and children within the family as a lead professional, which includes arranging and chairing multiagency family meetings.
The Early Help team has been successful in delivering the Supporting Families programme and offers a range of interventions and programmes for families. There will be a need to lone work in the community, on site at the Civic Centre and within schools. There will be opportunities to also work from home.If you are a person who is passionate and highly motivated about developing services within a health and social care perspective, we would want to hear from you.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position, you will have proven experience of working with adults and children in a lone working environment, as many interventions are delivered in the community and family home. You will need to demonstrate excellent assessment, planning skills and be familiar with working to sustainable outcomes.You should have experience of completing assessments and plans with families which support change and promote better family wellbeing.
It would be advantageous to have knowledge of the Supporting Families Programme and be able to evidence your knowledge of outcome based working.
You will need to be flexible in your approach and there is an expectation to work outside usual office hours to offer the support needed by families.Whilst degree level education is desirable, consideration will be given to candidates with extensive practical experience.
