At Oriel Surgery, we require a Medical Receptionist to work as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of reception and the tasks that come with this position. Assisting and directing patients towards an appropriate Healthcare professional, the successful applicant will provide assistance to the GPs, Nurses and Management..
Responsibilities
- To gain a good knowledge of Practice procedures.
- Directing patients at reception, prompt answering of telephones and clerical duties.
- Deal with prescription requests, FIT notes and all other patient queries that come via telephone, face to face or by email.
- Deal with private services like letters, solicitors and reports.
- Relay information to patients like test results and tasks sent from the GPs.
- Book interpreting services and ambulances for patients where necessary.
- Photocopying and scanning patient notes where necessary.
- Other administrative duties.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above including Maths and English.
- Ability to work with Microsoft applications.
- Please note this is a patient facing role.
Desirable Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexibly within a diverse team.
- Be resourceful and able to use own initiative, judgement and common sense.
- Ability to take direction and instruction from peers.
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
- Ability to sometimes deal with challenging situations or individuals.
Further Information
The Employer is: ORIEL SURGERY.
Salary: 16/17 £5.28, 18/20 £7.49, 21/22 £10.18, 23/24 £10.42 per hour.
Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
