56 months contract with Local government

Job Summary:

This is an exciting software development opportunity in the small but highly skilled ICT systems integration team. Currently we are continuing our journey to cloud provided services utilising Azure and AWS platforms. We utilise DevOps integrating applications such as Dynamics CRM Unit4 ERP Confirm Highways Civica and our Social Care system. Looking to the future the council has identified that increased automation is strategically essential and this team will be at the heart of delivery.

Key Skills:

You will need to be creative in your development approach and to be able to work with many business areas and systems to provide robust functional applications and support them over their lifetime. A good development methodology approach analytical ability and a broad skills base are needed to handle the varied systems and technologies being integrated. You will need to work closely with your team customers and other ICT colleagues receiving and imparting knowledge so that we continue to provide the best service possible to our stakeholders. Often this is a highpressure environment so you must be able to work independently to business deadlines and have the confidence and experience to use your own initiative to fulfil requests. The ICT department aims to continually improve our services and a desire to innovate and improve is a feature of our staff across all areas. Essential Experience Required:

Degree or equivalent in an ICT related subject or demonstrable relevant experience.

High degree of ICT literacy.

Requires 5 years experience in a software development role and at least one of the following

have an understanding of internet/web technologies and the development of software and services for that environment.

Experience and understanding of the software development lifecycle

Ability to identify and mitigate against potential technical risks.

Experience of systems administration and application support

Understanding of Change Control and Management

Understanding of software security (defensive coding and encryption)

Knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. Data protection

Additional information to note:

This position is located in Shropshire SY2 6ND

The working arrangements is mostly remote working but occasional attendance in the office when required.

The position could become permanent once the contract ended.
