Job description
McElmeel Mobility Services are seeking Fitter/Fabricators to join our production team, successful candidates will be responsible for the general welding, fabricating & fitting of our vehicle conversions (standard vehicles to wheelchair accessible vehicles). McElmeel Mobility Services have an industry leading amount of European Type Approved conversions and you will be expected to work on a range of vehicles converting them to the highest standards..
Responsibilities
- Understand the build process expected for conversion of vehicles for wheelchair access,
- Complete general welding, fabricating and fitting,
- Cut out/modify the floor of the vehicle to prepare for conversion,
- Fit conversion and ramps,
- Ability to use hand tools such as saws, grinders, and drills effectively,
- Fit Wheelchair and Passenger Restraint systems,
- Fit and wire other accessories on request i.e. winch, side steps,
- Build conversions following the build manual for the set vehicle,
- Solve problems that occur during the build process,
- Identification of solutions that improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role
- Previous welding/fabrication experience is advantageous
- Full driving licence
- Pride in quality workmanship
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Desirable Skills
- Previous welding/fabrication experience is advantageous
