37.5 Hours - Monday to Sunday between 8.00 am and 10.00 pm

We’re seeking a Support Worker to make a real difference to the lives of our customers. We’re looking for candidates that want to make real impact to the lives of others and are able to build relationships with people from all walks of life.

In the heart of the vibrant city of Hull, Donnington Court is a supported housing scheme which has 12 fully furnished one, two and three-bedroom flats. We provide accommodation and tailored advice and support for families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

We work closely with our customers to understand their specific needs to provide a personalised support plan to help our families gain the confidence and the skills to maintain a tenancy, customers are supported with daily living skills, managing their finances (budgeting and benefits), cooking cleaning and shopping, dealing with correspondence, building positive relationships and planning a successful move-on

We provide a comprehensive induction programme as well as on-going training to develop new and existing skills and encourage progression.

The position of Support Worker is referred to internally at Sanctuary, as Project Worker.

The role of Support Worker will include:

• Ensuring that relevant support is provided to encourage our customers to maximise their own potential and level of independence.
• Assessing customers’ needs by writing and updating support plans.
• Being a first point of call, to signpost and support to access other services.
• Developing professional relationships with customers, ensuring that customers build confidence, resilience and self-esteem.
• Liaising with external support links to improve customers’ confidence, health and wellbeing and offer support with daily living skills, tenancy management and budgeting.
• Handling occasional emergency situations
• Keeping accurate and high-quality written records

Skills and experiences:

• Experience of working with vulnerable adults, people with mental health needs or substance misuse is essential.
• Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
• Ability to hit the ground running and work under challenging circumstances.
• Good communication skills

• Adaptable to internal and external changing demands
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel or similar
