Salary: £9.81
To assist in delivering a friendly and professional library service to the community at Penarth Library. This will involve dealing with enquiries, helping out with library activities, and providing support for customers to make use of the library stock, resources and facilities.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The job description refers to the principal duties and responsibilities of the Post. It does not necessarily list in detail all the tasks required to carry out these duties and responsibilities.
10.Carry out front desk duties and the associated back office processes relating to the Library Service and the Council Contact Point, such as enrolments, handling reservations, collecting statistics, and handling sale items
11.Take payments and assist with checking cash balances and floats as well as operating the cash register and other equipment involving cash
12.Utilise a diverse range of IT systems and databases to deliver library services and the Council Contact Point
13.Undertake training and participate in appropriate workshops required to fulfil the duties of the post and to enhance service provision
14.Keep library equipment and computers in a clean condition
15.Undertake occasional key holding duties in the absence of library supervisor and manager
16.Undertake work on and for the mobile library pop-up service and other such initiatives where required.
17.Comply with Library Service processes and procedures as detailed in the Staff Manual and other relevant documentation, and in accordance with guidance from supervisors and managers.
18.Be aware of Council policies and procedures necessary to effectively carry out the duties of the post, including:
⦁ Ensure compliance with the Council’s Financial Regulations, Standing Orders, Policies and Procedures.
⦁ Implement the principles of the Council’s Equal Opportunity Policy whilst carrying out the above duties.
⦁ Adhere to Health and Safety legislation / relevant Council policies and procedures and to take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be adversely affected by your acts / omissions.
⦁ Implement the principles of the Council’s Environment Policy while carrying out the above duties.
19.Such other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade and in accordance with the general character of the job as may reasonably be required by the Chief Officer from time to time.
