JOB TITLE: Facilities Manager
INDUSTRY: Higher Education
ROLE TYPE: Permanent, full-time
SALARY: £36000 - £40,000+ dependant on candidate experience
HOURS: 9.00am - 17.30pm (Fully site-based)
START DATE: ASAP

This is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the safety of students and staff while maintaining the functionality of the facilities and equipment necessary for educational, operational and creative activities.
It will encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including health and safety compliance, conducting risk assessments, managing physical assets, enhancing building appearance and security, overseeing contractors, and maintaining a safe, compliant, well-maintained, conducive learning environment.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:
- A bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in a relevant field (e.g. facilities management, engineering, occupational health and safety); or proven experience in health and safety, building site management, occupational health and safety, office operations management or other related field - ideally in an educational or film production environment, understanding the unique risks and requirements of the industry
- Proven experience in facilities management, including managing physical assets, overseeing building appearance, and security
- A strong understanding of safety regulations, building codes, and maintenance best practices
- Familiarity with the regulations and requirements specific to educational institutions, especially those related to learning environment compliance
- Proven experience a management role or supervisory role
- Experience in managing relationships with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders
- Experience in conducting risk assessments and risk mitigation strategy
- Experience in emergency response planning and crisis management
- Effective problem-solving skills to address safety issues and maintenance challenges promptly
- Proficiency in using computer software for maintenance management, budgeting, and reporting, including safety management software and tools for tracking compliance, incidents, and safety data
- Proficiency in data analysis to assess performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions in areas like asset management and risk assessments
- Experience in budget management to allocate resources effectively across various responsibilities
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Awareness of sustainability practices and the ability to incorporate them into facilities management
