Technical Consultant – OpenAthens
Salary: From £40,000 per annum negotiable depending on experience
Contract: Permanent
Location: Hybrid - flexibility to work from home and at any of our main hubs (London, Bristol, Manchester and Milton Park - Oxfordshire)

About the role:
The OpenAthens team, part of Jisc, has the vision to become the world’s most user-friendly information access management experience, helping academics, students, scientists and library patrons gain access to the knowledge they need to achieve great things.
Joining us as a technical consultant within the OpenAthens consultancy team, your goal is to deliver the gold standard of technical support, onboarding expertise and advice to our global customer base, partners and internal stakeholders.
As you gain experience, you have the opportunity to progress to a senior level. As a dynamic and adaptable team, our responsibilities will change over time at both this level and senior levels.
At Jisc we value in person meetings wherever possible, so a willingness and ability to travel across the UK will be necessary in this role (although you’d be welcome to come into our offices more often should you wish). Some travel both within the UK and internationally subject to business and customer requirements is expected.
Responsibilities will include:
• Conduct technical pre-sales consultations and answer technical questions to assist with closing sales opportunities
• Act as a stakeholder liaison to facilitate discussions and establish a shared understanding of requirements from different customer and internal stakeholder groups
• Establish an in-depth knowledge of key 3rd party products to aid in solution design
• Perform user acceptance testing of new products and features
• Design and deliver new training materials and content to internal and partner stakeholders
• Accompany sales team in on-site and online customer meetings delivering training and advice where required
Key Skills and Experience:
• Flexibility and strong prioritisation skills to adapt based on customer/business requirements
• Ability to quickly establish credibility and trust, and build effective relationships with key stakeholders
• In depth knowledge and experience of OpenAthens products, web technologies and applications, SAML, OIDC, federated access, REST APIs
• Ability to translate complex technical themes into technical diagrams as requested to aid understanding of solutions and to Identify trends or patterns, and communicate these appropriately
• Supporting, configuring and consulting on SaaS products and services. Designing and delivering presentations for technical and non-technical audiences
