Location

Bolton, Greater Manchester | United Kingdom

Job description

Reporting to the Deputy Head of Business Intelligence – Technical Development, the Business Intelligence Developer will participate in the maintenance and development of databases, reports and systems using a variety of methods and software tools. The post holder will play a full part in the team approach to providing information support to the Trust, ensuring that systems are in place to deliver information that is accurate and complete, within agreed timescales, to meet internal and external requirements.

The main aspect of the role is to develop robust software for databases, reports and websites, adhering to good practice including source control and documentation. The post holder is expected to follow the full development lifecycle, including taking the lead in planning their own projects, working with customers to build a specification and iterating through prototypes and developments on complex technical projects from beginning to conclusion.

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust was formed in 2008 and, in 2011, we became an integrated provider with community health services joining the Trust. Covering a catchment area that also incorporates parts of Bury, Wigan and Salford, we deliver hospital and community based services from the Royal Bolton Hospital in Farnworth and from 20 health centres across Bolton, to a catchment population of 320,000 people. We have a CQC rating as good overall and we have some key areas of outstanding practice with an outstanding rating for being well led at every level.

Buildings, names and models of care have changed over the centuries, but one thing has remained constant and is prevalent among our 5,900+ staff members: the enduring commitment to providing the best health and care for the people of Bolton.

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is an integrated care organisation. Royal Bolton Hospital (RBH) has approximately 700 beds and a turnover of £320m. It is one of the busiest hospitals in Greater Manchester for urgent care and is also a regional 'supercentre' for maternity services, babies and children. As an integrated organisation we also provide care and support in the community at over 20 health centres and clinics, including the Bolton One complex in the town centre, as well as services such as district and school nursing. We serve a population of around 270,000 and employ approximately 5,300 staff.

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust's Business Intelligence team has recently won the North West’s Skills Development Network – “Team of the Year”, with our Bolton CCG BI colleagues. People find they don’t need to go elsewhere to find a fulfilling career in healthcare. We have an exciting vacancy within the Business Intelligence Team for a Business Intelligence Developer. The post is a Band 6 subject to Agenda for Change review.

The ideal candidate should have experience and skills in working with NHS data, along with strong communication skills, both written and verbal. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, with experience in Business Intelligence. You will possess excellent communication skills, good team leadership qualities and excellent technical skills.
