Your New Role

We have fantastic opportunities for Permanent General Building Operative to join our Bradford Schools Accounts at Amey. This role will be mobile so frequent travel around Bradford will be required.

The salary is dependent on experience.

Amey delivers facilities and estate management services to the Bradford Schools Private Finance Initiative across an estate of 10 schools (7 secondary and 3 Special Educational Needs).

We work in partnership with our clients and end-users to ensure our 24/7 services are delivered to the highest standard with minimum impact or disruption to day-to-day operational requirements of the schools.

The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours Per Week

You will be responsible for and as Required:

Ensure smooth running of the school premises.
Carrying out varied elements of Building Maintenance including but not exclusive of: Joinery Works, Plastering Works, Decorations, Flooring, Tiling, Plumbing etc.
Carrying out day-to-day DIY/maintenance and minor repairs to elements of the Building Fabric across 7 Sites on the Schools Portfolio
Opening the building in the morning and locking it at the end of the day may be required on a Caretaker Cover Basis as required.
To ensure heating, lighting and alarm systems are working properly may be required on a Caretaker Cover Basis as required.
Daily responsible to check that all doors and windows are locked when the building is not in use may be required on a Caretaker Cover Basis as required.
Checking the premises to guard against vandalism may be required on a Caretaker Cover Basis as required.
Arranging chairs and tables for meetings or assemblies and clearing away afterwards may be required on a Caretaker Cover Basis as required.
Working under direction of the Hard Services Manager/Assistant Hard FM
Always keeping in line with best practice and health and safety regulations.
Carrying out PPM’s may be required on a Caretaker Cover Basis as required.
On Call Cover on a Rota Basis to cover Out of Hours Call Outs

We want to hear from you if you have:
Knowledge and previous experience in Building Fabric, Building Trades and practical DIY skills for Building Fabric Repairs/Minor Works
Full Clean Driving Licence
Self-motivated with a positive attitude
Good Team Player
Flexible with shift work
Good at developing strong working relationships with on-site client and employees
Committed to providing excellent customer service
Knowledgeable of Health and Safety regulation
Familiar with COSHH standards
Basic IT skills
