Job description
The Home Office has one of the most challenging and critical jobs in Government. The Home Office is the lead government Department for immigration and passports, crime, police, fire, and counter terrorism. Strong analytical advice is needed to navigate these challenges, and the Home Office has a reputation for putting analysis at the heart of decision-making.
Part of the Home Office Analysis & Insight directorate, the Performance Reporting & Analysis Unit (PRAU) provides reporting and analysis of performance for the Migration & Borders Mission and associated operational Capabilities. We support Ministers, the Executive Committee, Policy and Operational leads and other analytical functions with the management information (MI) that they need, as well as producing data for publication and other forms of external release. The Unit also provides advice and support to others in the Department on how to make best use of performance information and is leading on the transformation of MI systems and capabilities.This post provides an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, which is inclusive by instinct, engaging with projects that work across the department to understand and deliver reporting requirements both short and long term, and provides an opportunity to understand first-hand how the different parts of the Home Office, and external bodies use and interact with key performance information. In addition, PRAU along with other areas of the Home Office, are going through a significant and exciting transformation to provide an enhanced MI service to the Department. The transformation encompasses technology and process, meaning that the role will require a degree of flexibility to deliver innovative activities to support and endorse the transformation, in addition to the responsibilities outlined below.
Due to the nature of the role, this post is available on a full-time basis only and with the possibility of compressed hours.
In the role of Management Information (MI) Change Manager, you will assist the MI Change Lead in all aspects of the MI change management process for the roll out and adoption of Management Information systems, such as Vantage (PowerBI). Your responsibilities encompass planning, communication, training, feedback collection, resistance management, monitoring, documentation, support, and continuous improvement. The MI Change Manager’s contributions are vital in ensuring a successful transition to the new system while minimising disruption and maximising the benefits for the organisation.
Responsibilities
Your main day-to-day responsibilities will be:
End User Communications and Engagement Channels
• Commission, collate and issue Monthly Newsletter for Vantage end users and Weekly Newsletter for Vantage BPOs/SROs.
• Maintain BPO Handbook and Onboarding deck and present where required.
• Track adoption and usage of Vantage products and conduct Qualitative Assessment/Deep Dive for Vantage users.
• Conduct Qualitative Analysis on individual reports when required.
• Manage and monitor delivery of 'Introduction to Vantage training' by HOAI trainers.
• Maintain and develop the Vantage User Teams channel, SharePoint site and MI Change Team Inbox.
• Produce central comms and engagement for the MI Change Lead to share within the MI communities via the Teams channel and SharePoint sites.
Reporting and Governance
• Act as the Secretariat for the User Steering Group and other forums as required.
• Prepare MI Change updates such as risks and issues by liaising with the MI Change Managers in the Spokes / aligned to the business areas.
• Work with the MI Change Lead to align with and support other Change teams across the Department where required (Atlas / CID decommissioning / Command business Change teams / DOD).
MI Change Excellence Standards
• Support the MI Change Lead to maintain the MI Change Blueprint to uphold MI Change Management standards.
• Support the MI Change Lead to maintain and deliver ‘Introduction to Vantage decks’ (End Users, Specialist Users, Practitioners within the MI Service).
• Support the MI Change Lead to develop and maintain Vantage training and engagement materials, in collaboration with the People & Engagement Hub Function.
Important Information
PRAU is geographically spread across four primary locations (London, Liverpool, and Sheffield and Croydon).
Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estates capacity, by Spring 2024.
