Please see job description for full details. Work as an experienced practitioner, contributing to the development of the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring the most effective utilisation of resources. Undertake a full range of duties appropriate to the Day Surgery specialty by providing skilled assistance in the surgical role which will include pre and post-op care on the ward, pre-assessment, team co-ordination and nurse-led discharge. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care needs of the pre and post operative patient, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the patients condition and reporting effectively to the appropriate person. Ensure the maintenance of accurate clinical observation of patients condition, and complete accurate, clear and concise documentation. Identify problems and risks, decide on appropriate action via a structured approach and report promptly to other staff on matters regarding their input. With experience,supervise the delivery of care to maintain agreed standards. Plan, prioritise and supervise care within an allocated time frame and delegate activities appropriately. Report any deficiencies to Ward Sister/Manager Following appropriate and agreed training, undertake a range of enhanced skills specific to the clinical areas, as deemed necessary by operational requirements, such as Link Nurse Role, advanced paed/adult life support, termination advisory nurse in accordance with the Trust Policy. Undertake the care of paediatric patients, with the support of senior staff follwing completion of competencies. Contributes to the effective and efficient use of resources. Including safe use, checking, maintainance and storage of equipment. Undertake the process of patient transfer where deemed necessary, adhering to the departments transfer protocols.
