Job Title: R&D Tax Manager

Reporting to: Associate Director

Salary: £50,000 + depending on qualification

Location: Manchester – office based

Due to expansion, CBTax are seeking a number of Managers to join our Manchester team to support the firm's continued growth across the UK. Our team is the backbone of our success, and as a Manager you will be responsible for the development of new business opportunities, take responsibility for innovative client delivery and excel in leadership, whilst managing projects and work streams for client delivery. The Manager will work closely with the Associates, Assistant Manager, Senior Managers and Associate Director to successfully deliver work and grow the business in the UK.

Applicants will be ATT/CTA qualified, ideally have experience in R&D and would be looking to develop their management skills within a dynamic environment. We are seeking an organised, hard-working and ambitious individual who has a passion for best practice.

We would be keen to hear from proactive individuals who can independently manage tasks while also collaborating effectively with Senior Managers, Directors, and Clients. Candidates should have an interest in building their own client portfolio as well as potentially developing a specialist field of technical and/or sector knowledge and expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing government incentive claims.
• Drafting detailed technical reports to support the R&D projects included in the claims.
• Coordinate and liaise with clients, colleagues and HMRC to ensure claims are optimised and that we meet agreed deadlines.
• Preparing HMRC submission documents supporting the R&D claim.
• Managing a portfolio of clients and overseeing project delivery.
• Managing client engagements and cultivating strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Responding to HMRC queries or liaising with them on behalf of clients regarding R&D claims.
• Offering advice on tax technical points to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Supervising junior team members and updating senior stakeholders on project progress.
• Identifying and pursuing new business development opportunities.
• Collaborating within a strong team-oriented environment.
• Line Manage and mentor Associates and Assistant Managers

Required Experience

• Strong technical knowledge of UK’s R&D tax.
• Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple live projects concurrently and managing one's workload effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, serving as the main point of contact for managed projects with various stakeholders.
• Coaching and delegation abilities, supporting the growth of technical expertise and soft skills in the team.
• Strong written skills for report writing, technical memo drafting, and concise advice notes.
• Analytical skills for numerical analysis of client data.
• ATT/CTA part qualified
