Overview of role

Location: Walthamstow

This role forms a key part of the Engineering Management team, is responsible for the site preventative maintenance strategy and engineering legal compliance and is fundamental to the successful implementation of the overall Engineering Department Strategy. This role also requires the individual to demonstrate both their management and practical hands-on skills and fulfil the role of Duty Manager in accordance with the rostered cycle.Through the effective management of both financial and labour resources, via internal labour and external service contracts, the role will ensure that all applicable statutory requirements will be met, the preventative maintenance strategy is maintained and scheduled correctly, and that all site services are maintained to the support the sites production requirements.

Key Accountabilities

Service Contract Management – responsibility for contractor selection, contract content and the financial management of the contracts (AB24, invoicing etc.), for all Engineering service contracts. Contractor management during service activities.Maintenance & Repair Budget – responsible for managing the M&R budget.Site services equipment – responsible for steam (including water treatment & condensate), water (domestic, plant, chilled & ice), chiller plant, AHU’s (incoming and extraction), air conditioning, lighting, compressed air and all associated process feed pipework to plant.Statutory Compliance maintenance activities – responsible for all engineering statutory compliance i.e. PSSR, LOLER, ladders & MEWP’s, FGAS, Boilers, Calibrations, etc. (excluding electrical). Audit Compliance – support the site compliance with both internal and external audit and associated action close-out (e.g. BRC, JS Sainsbury, Aldi, Etc.) Environmental Compliance – effluent and surface water including Metrorod & Thames Water (or another incumbent).EAM system
- super user for the site’s EAM system, responsible for system administration and process developments.Critical Engineering Spares – responsible for managing the engineering stores to maintain minimum stock levels, timely reordering and regular stock counts (Stores Person direct report).Engineering Planning – responsibility for the creation of the weekly maintenance plans, annual shutdown plans., development of PM strategy to ensure maximum plant efficiency, root cause analysis of major issues and breakdowns.Apprenticeship Programme – support the Apprentice Programme working alongside the Controls Engineer to deliver world class apprentices..Building Fabrication – maintenance of all site buildings, supporting the Facilities Manager when required with maintaining site facilities.Training – support the delivery of training within the Engineering Department as required.Continuous Improvement – Support the site continuous improvement process, attending performance meetings as required, contribute to and support the generation of continuous improvement ideas and activities.Duty Manager – fulfil the role of Duty Manager as part of the roster, cover for the Maintenance Manager when on leave.Capital Projects – support the delivery of Capital Projects through purchase order raising, planning activities and contractor management.
