Job description
This is a Transport Manager role, joining one of Southampton’s most prestigious Transport and Logistics businesses. The company has a fantastic reputation with a rare balance of professional/corporate standards combined with being privately owned/down to earth. The job is managing daily operations and compliance of a fleet of 20 large vehicles. Previous experience within Transport Management is essential.
The Role
Reporting to the MD, you will be responsible for vehicle operations and compliance. Key aspects of the role include:
Providing leadership to the transport team
Ensuring compliance with industry regulation, transportation law and environmental standards
Being creative to explore a more sustainable way of doing operations – the company are genuinely motivated to ‘do the right thing’ and embrace sustainability
Overseeing management of all transport activities to ensure on time delivery and efficient route planning
Negotiating contracts and continuing the great relationships that are in place with suppliers
Managing the maintenance of the fleet of 20 trucks and trailers
The Ideal Candidate
Strong and genuinely good people management skills are essential
Experience within Transport Management, displaying standards of excellence
Analytical, with a keen eye for detail
Thrives in a busy, time critical environment
