HOUSING CAMPAIGN AND RESEARCH OFFICER – SALARY £26,000PA
Maternity Cover - 6 month Contract with possible extension.
COMMENCING: - Immediate start - Hybrid

The SGTO is a borough wide community organisation that supports tenants and residents in Southwark. This Officer will be responsible for developing campaigns on public policies relevant to social housing on behalf of tenants and residents across the borough.
You will lead on campaign issues, which include undertaking policy related research, supporting campaigning and public affairs activities on behalf of SGTO and its local membership. An in-depth knowledge of social housing issues is required. Arrange press release and liaising with local press on housing campaigns, organise open sessions on different topics, broadcasting and highlighting housing campaign on local radio, provide response to different consultations, organise round table public meetings and workshops both online and offline, develop and share petitions, help tenants group engage with local media and liaise with politicians, organise political hustings, listen to housing cases and help them take their cases forward.
You will need excellent communication skills including good IT skills. You will need to demonstrate the ability to research on national and local government policies and produce reports. The post holder will be responsible for liaising with various organisations with a view to influencing relevant policies and able to highlight issues on the horizon, steer residents to lobby local government, complete freedom of information requests, research into government and council policies affecting tenants and homeowners.
You will have demonstrable research skills including the ability to analyse quantitative and qualitative data, be able to provide public affairs advice including preparation of briefings and presentations. The post also includes promoting issues of SGTO, ensuring all policy and research information is up to date on our website and providing media briefings as required.
The SGTO is a voluntary group funded through the Tenants and Residents Movement via the local authority.
