£12.51 per hour
20 hours per week (4 shifts, 8am-1pm)
Alternative weekend working required

Stagenhoe Neurological Care Centre is looking for an experienced Chef to join our team. Your role will be to prepare and cook meals to the standard required for our residents and manage the kitchen and Catering Assistant staff in the absence of the Head Chef.

Stagenhoe is a specialist neurological care centre based in Hertfordshire, caring for people aged 18 and over a range of neurological conditions. At Stagenhoe, we provide the care people need to optimise their health and wellbeing, maximise their independence and support their emotional and social needs.

About the role:
•Ensure that all food is correctly and safely prepared and stored
•Ensure food is presented in a way which meets agreed Sue Ryder standards
•In the absence of the Chef to ensure that all catering staff follow Sue Ryder policies and procedures
•Ensure all equipment is left clean at end of shift in line with systems in place
•Ensure recording of cleaning and equipment maintenance schedules is in line with Sue Ryder policies and procedures
•Reporting of equipment faults or concerns in line with agreed local procedures

About you:
•Level 2 Food Hygiene essential, level 3 desirable
•NVQ or SVQ Level 2 General Catering or equivalent essential
•Knowledge of regulation, e.g. COSSH, Health & Safety, HACCP
•NVQ / SVQ Level 3 General Catering or equivalent desirable
•Previous experience of working in kitchens
•Ability to work as part of a team
•Ability to work closely with service users and communicate effectively with them
•Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing essential
•Experience of working in a health and social care setting desirable
•IT literacy essential
•Demonstrable skills in cooking for large groups of people and an ability to cater for varying dietary needs essential

Later this year The Disabilities Trust will take over the ownership of Sue Ryder’s four neurological services, including this centre and all staff employed by Sue Ryder at that service will transfer to The Disabilities Trust.

The Disabilities Trust supports people with acquired brain injuries, physical disabilities and other neurological conditions and the acquisition of Sue Ryder's neurological services is a natural extension to the services the Trust currently provides.
