Job description
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant at Key Stage 4 in Salford, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs
- Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies
- Supporting students with academic tasks and helping to develop their social and emotional skills
- Collaborating with teachers to differentiate instruction and adapt learning materials to meet the diverse needs of students
- Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers
- Promoting positive behaviour and fostering a safe and supportive learning environment
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with young people with SEMH needs is essential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and emotional development of young people
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of students
