Full time position
Working arrangements : Mostly working from home, only coming in for business critical events such as face-to-face development centres and recruitment / wellbeing campaigns.
Directorate Group : Fire and Rescue Service
Grade 4 position

Your role will be to support the lifecycle of workforce development initiatives from inductions, performance and leadership learning to culture change, career development and retirement planning. Having first assessed and prioritised individuals’ development needs, you will be co-ordinating and planning events such as training courses and information webinars including occasionally supporting the wider POD team with recruitment, wellbeing and diversity events. You will be using word processing, One Note and Excel to format documents, take minutes and process map using information gathered in face-to-face and online meetings with a range of internal stakeholders whilst capturing and following up on actions. You will be required to raise purchase orders and handle goods invoices, keeping accurate records for budgeting purposes, producing statistical data at a high level and handling confidential data. Your role is integral to the maintenance of computer databases, SharePoint sites and the updating of communications via the newsletter and intranet site.

What you’ll need to succeed:
Using your initiative, you will have the ability to set deadlines, manage your workload effectively and understand when problems need to be escalated for a quick and accurate resolution. With an analytical, positive and proactive approach you will be able to interpret a variety of information or situations in order to solve problems or develop solutions with autonomy and collaboratively. You will occasionally attend events and roadshows such as recruitment events, meeting and greeting candidates and will therefore, need to have good customer service and be able carry resources to and from events.
Required skills and experience

Key Skills:

  1. Ability to interpret information to produce a high-quality administrative support with minimal guidance. Also, the ability to organise, plan and meet set targets e.g., for event organisation.
  2. Good communication and interpersonal skills in order to provide clear and concise general advice and guidance to a range of clients.
  3. Good literacy and numeracy skills in order to understand complex written instructions describing tasks and to check and format documents.
  4. Ability to present information clearly, concisely, accurately and in ways that promote understanding, either verbally or in written/electronic form.
  5. Good knowledge of specialist ICT software and good general knowledge of ICT software for the integral use of word processing, data processing, creating, developing workflows or electronic records and the ability to investigate and troubleshoot problems and provide solutions.

Qualifications and/or experience:
Qualifications
• 4 GCSE A-C passes including English & Maths (or equivalent).

Experience Essential
⦁ Demonstrable office experience using administrative office systems and practices.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge and skill in the Microsoft suite; Outlook, Word, OneNote, Excel and PowerPoint (or equivalent packages) for the
