We have opportunities for motivated and enthusiastic Aseptic Services Technicians to join our busy Pharmacy Sterile Production Unit. Do you have experience of working in a sterile production unit either within the NHS or Commercial Sector and wish to broaden your experience, skills and knowledge then we have may have just the job for you!

We are looking for Registered Pharmacy Technicians or Science Manufacturing Technicians (SMT) to work alongside our team of Technicians, Assistant Technical Officers and Pharmacists to provide essential sterile medicinal products including; Parenteral Nutrition, Chemotherapy and Clinical Trials. Our Aseptic Services department is one of the busiest units in the region and you will be joining a friendly, diverse and dedicated team who take pride in providing essential services to our patients.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the role will include:

Pre-Assembly of materials for aseptic preparation

Production of worksheets and labels

Pre-Process checking (upon successful completion of accreditation)

In-Process checking (upon successful completion of accreditation)

Aseptic compounding of sterile products

The role of the B5 Technician works closely with the Unit Managers  to assist with day to day service provision. You will assist with supervising and training new starters such as Pre-Registration Technicians and our Assistant Technical Officers.

You will prioritise workloads and ensure that products are made in a timely and safe manner. As a B5 Technician you will also undertake Accuracy Checking  Accreditation (Pre-Process Checking) as well as In-Process Checking.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

NVQ3 Pharmacy Services, BTEC Pharmaceutical Science OR CGLI/Apothecaries Hall pre-1985 certificates.

Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhc)

OR Science Manufacturing Technician –SMT Apprenticeship (Level 3 Diploma in the Principles of Aseptic Pharmaceuticals Processing

Registered Science Technician -RSsciTech

Desirable criteria

Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance experience.

Leeds Aseptic Dispensing Course or Equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria

Aseptic experience in Hospital or Commercial sectors.

Current post Band 4 or above.

Good team player and sensitive to the need to optimise team performance.

Desirable criteria

Substantial hospital pharmacy experience

Evidence of teaching, training and supervision.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

Basic computer literacy (word, excel, outlook).

Up to date knowledge of GMP and Quality Management Systems

Pharmacy computerised systems.

Desirable criteria

Appraisal knowledge.

NVQ assessor.

Project management knowledge.

Skills

Essential criteria

Good presentation skills

Good verbal communication

Good written communication

Good interpersonal skills

Regularly communicates with key groups / stakeholders: Pharmacy staff Multidisciplinary Team / Cross sector Patients Carers General Public Pharmaceutical Industry (may be barriers to understanding)

Desirable criteria

Experience of report writing.
