My client
My client offers installation, inspection, servicing/maintenance and sales of sports and fitness equipment to more than 10,000 customers, from the Shetland Isles to the South Coast in the UK. These customers consist of schools, sports centres, care homes and more than 100 county councils as well as fire, police and Healthcare authorities.
Accountability and Responsibilities
- Be responsible for providing financial reports to departments heads and the managing director in a timely manner.
- Ability to work with all departments of the business to help them plan and manage their budgets.
- Responsible for a team of 5 (2 direct reports)
- Provide report financials monthly to the group finance function which is a listed Franco-Dutch company.
- Work closely with the MD to assist the Directors in developing and assessing the business cases for all activity and investment that is proposed and help them manage the overall business, so it maintains profitability.
- Report weekly financials to the MD.
- Provide weekly cash flow forecasts and demands to ensure sufficient liquidity to the business.
- Be responsible centrally controlling and validating with the MD the company's corporate finance information and seeking clarifications and consents where required from the Group finance departments.
- Provide advice on and maintain the financial health of the company.
- Develop trends and projections for the finances including the receivables and payables.
- Liaise with financial auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of company finances is maintained.
- Provide information as requested to Auditors and to provide all assistance and information required for onsite Auditors.
- Assist and support by providing full and factual information to internal compliance auditors from within the group.
- Be responsible for all risk management, maintaining the company risk log and an active risk management program.
- Attend monthly senior management meeting and present the financial position of the company, its performance against forecasts and budgets, and assist in the strategic planning for the company's growth.
- Manage the accounts office on a day to day basis and to oversee and ensure the ongoing training and development of the team.
- To pay attention to our product margins (specials) and the process of achieving these margins, by implementing KPI's in place to monitor and demonstrate these improvements.
- To set and control the financial delegated authority structures.
Responsibilities for inventory control
To include but not limited to:
- Analysis and monitor areas such as stock levels, margins on individual stock items, purchase of stock items, quality of stock items, to look at methods of purchasing stock that will have direct effect on the profitability of the company.
Minimum Experience required
- At least 5 years in a similar role embracing financial, Management information & risk management or equivalent.
- Experience in financial packages and credit control (Access dimensions - preferred)

- Strong Leadership - Able to work on own initiative and be directed by the MD and Group
- Experience within an SME that is part of a larger group (listed company) - preferred.
- Has excellent business planning and organisational skills. A strong focus on costs and on supporting selected revenue growth activities.
- Commercially aware, numerate with good analytical skills.
- Ability to understand broader business issues and able to step in as for the MD on occasions.
- Tenacious, persuasive, and excellent project delivery skills
- Good communication and presentation skills

Qualifications
Formal training within corporate financial management, and member of at least one of the following, or able to evidence QBE or equivalent:
ACCA
CIMA
CIPFA
ICAEW
Formal training in respect of quality system audit and management preferred.
