Job description
We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Packaging Designer to lead and innovate in the design of our skincare and beauty product categories. This role is pivotal in shaping the aesthetic and functional aspects of our packaging, ensuring sustainability and luxury are at the forefront.
Key Responsibilities
- Spearhead design initiatives for our full range of products, including core, limited edition, and branded items.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to our packaging design team, fostering a creative and collaborative environment.
- Conceptualise, design, and deliver innovative packaging solutions for various products and special projects.
- Develop and present compelling packaging concepts, graphical treatments, and material selections to the design team and Creative Director.
- Regularly update and refine packaging design guidelines, ensuring best practices and high standards are maintained.
- Meticulously review packaging samples, print artwork, and proofs to ensure quality and consistency.
- Adhere to creative schedules and project requirements, demonstrating excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Engage in special projects and cross-functional collaborations, particularly focusing on sustainability initiatives to minimise packaging waste.
- Deeply understand the technical aspects of print and packaging formats (e.g., bottles, labels, tubes, cartons) to ensure feasibility and effectiveness.
- Work closely with departments such as New Product Development (NPD), marketing, and creative teams to ensure a cohesive and consistent brand image across all products.
- Translate Tropic's brand personality into tangible, and captivating packaging designs that resonate with our audience.
- Effectively communicate and present design ideas, building trust and buy-in for your creative vision.
- Proactively identify challenges and deploy creative solutions.
- Incorporate feedback from our Ambassadors and customers to continually enhance and refine our packaging designs.
- Collaborate with the NPD team on sustainable packaging initiatives from concept to final product realisation.
What We're Looking For
- A creative packaging specialist with between 7 to 10 years experience in packaging design is essential.
- a proven track record of creating eco-friendly packaging for the following sectors: skincare, beauty, or luxury goods.
- An impressive portfolio demonstrating expertise in designing premium packaging.
- A passionate advocate for sustainable packaging practices.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Artworking.
- Extensive knowledge of packaging functionality, textures, and physical design.
- Experience with a range of packaging materials, including eco-friendly options.
- Understanding of ergonomics in primary and secondary packaging design.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Conceptual thinker with excellent strategic, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Solid grasp of technical print limitations and packaging formats.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.

- Full-time role: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
- Hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days a week in the office as standard.
