Post Title: Lead Officer for Safeguarding in Schools
Team: School Attendance & Community Education Team
What we want from you:
Welcome to the S chool Attendance and Community Education Team ! We have undergone a redevelopment, and we are looking to recruit a dynamic, lead officer for safeguarding in schools, preferably with experience of having worked with children, families, and schools. Our current officer has received a promotion within the service so you will be fully supported in your new role.
The team has grown significantly and our offer to schools and families is expanding aligned with the DfE Working Together to Improve School Attendance Guidance. We are passionate about the work that we deliver, and we have strong links with partner agencies who are here to support you and help you deliver your services with confidence so that you can be the best that you can be.
The lead officer role for safeguarding in schools, sits under the Community Learning and Safeguarding Manager and you will work closely with our inclusion leads who cover elective home education, children missing in education, gypsy traveller education, asylum seeker and international new arrivals, child licensing and home tuition.
The successful candidate, will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be able to relate professionally and confidently to children, school staff and parents. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, organised and has excellent ICT skills and who can work independently.
You will be delivering training to a range of professionals around the borough, so organisation is key! You will be required to challenge professionals on all levels with regards to educational safeguarding processes.

Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week.
