Job description
My clients Established since 1959, and are a family owned third generation wholesale importer of consumer products
They are now looking to add to their busy team a Bookkeeper. For the first month training will be for a couple of hours in the evenings and weekend.
Monday to Friday 0900-1730hrs
Salary upto £30k DOE
Holidays 20 per year + bank holidays
Car parking
As an important member of the team, this role is hands-on, and it’s pivotal to the team and the business culture that the candidate has the ability to be flexible and demonstrate good communication skills. You will work closely with the Managing Director, manage all aspects of general accounting within the business, work with external finance related partners, the finance manager and rest of the team.
Responsibilities will include.
• Always ensuring legal compliance.
• Managing banking and invoice finance facility.
• Bank statement, multi-currency reconciliation.
• Sales & purchase ledger (includes coding, batching and posting).
• Making supplier payments.
• Credit control.
• Month-end journal posting.
• Preparation and submission of VAT returns.
• Preparing internal reports such as (cash flow, balance sheet, profit and loss, and monthly management accounts).
• Imported goods cost calculation.
• Some stock management, (warehouse stock inputs and product costings, annual stock check and audit of stock figures).
• Supporting external accountants, preparing monthly payroll and pensions payments.
• Set up supplier & customer accounts.
Required skills and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field or min 3-4 yrs. accounting / bookkeeping experience within an SME environment.
• Effective communication skills, confident in presenting financial information to MD.
• Proactive and able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision.
• Excellent planning, organisation and time keeping skills.
• Knowledge of MS Navision Dynamics preferred.
• Team Player.
