Job description
I'm currently recruiting for a dedicated and empathetic Residential Childcare Worker to join a fantastic children's home near Ashford, Kent, supporting young people between the ages of 11-18 with Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). You will be working with a well established organisation within children's Residential support.
**Due to the nature of this job and the activities involved, we are only able to consider applicants who have a full UK manual driver's licence**
I'm searching for an OUTGOING and DRIVEN individual who wants to make a real difference in the lives of young people, enabling them to develop socially, emotionally and behaviourally in a setting where they are PUT FIRST.
You must be committed, passionate, engaging, encouraging and want to act as a mentor to the young people… whilst having a whole lot of fun along the way!
Salary: £26,000 - £29,500 (sleep-in shift bonus included) Location: Ashford, Kent Hours: Full-Time Contract: Permanent Shift pattern: 4-week rolling rota, including sleep-in shifts

Responsibilities of a Residential Childcare Worker:
- To encourage the young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.
- To keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
- To be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
- Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
- Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being.
- Maintain a safe environment for young people.
- Ensuring the safety of the students and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
- Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals that may be involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.
Requirements:
- Experience as a Residential Childcare Worker, or with Young People is desirable but not essential.
- Experience within another healthcare or social care setting is desirable but not essential.
- You must be a car driver as you will be required to transport young people from time to time.
- You must be over the age of 21.
- You must be able to commute to Ashford, Kent.
