Job description

Band 1 for Education in Chambers and partners and Legal 500. Also recognised as best law firm in The Times 2023, practicing in London & Cardiff, practising in Education /Community Care /Administrative and Public Law/ Claims against public authorities.

We require a legally experienced person to fill an immediate Paralegal/Trainee Solicitor position in our Cardiff office. 

Much of the work involves judicial review and tribunal appeals.

If qualifying via the LPC route, this role will count towards your Period of Recognised Training.

If qualifying via the SQE route, this role will count towards your Qualifying Work Experience.

A full training programme with specialist supervision will be provided.

Starting date: Preferably April 2024

Requirements:

• Currently wishing to complete, studying towards, or having completed your LPC or SQE 1.
• Ability to manage time and to monitor performance.
• Proven track record of at least 18 months successful experience in responsible posts in a case management role.  
• Efficient worker, decisive character, with good commercial judgment.
• Good interpersonal skills - ability to work in a small team and with difficult clients under stress.

Preferred:

• Knowledge or experience of the areas of Education law, Community Care, Public law or litigation.
• Experience of working in legal aid including working on Legal Help files and making applications for legal aid on the CCMS system
• Proven commercial ability to enhance a profitable caseload of mixed private and legal aid work
