Job description

Main duties of the role Supporting NEMS Medicine Management team in developing and shaping teams strategy. Assisting in delivering the day-to-day management of medicines procurement within a framework of legal, professional, and NEMS financial policies and procedures. Documenting and demonstrating achievements made in containing medicines expenditure through efficient procurement and stock control. Assisting in the implementation, review and update of policies and procedures of new medicines management processes to ensure that they are safe and effective. Sharing of learning from medicines related incidents. Ensuring that learning has been disseminated to all essential colleagues. Supporting the Lead Clinical Pharmacist in ensuring that individuals responsible for medicines management on a daily basis are working to guidelines and as per best practice. Complying with the MHRA regulations, the NEMS Policy on Unlicensed Medicines and the department SOPs relating to unlicensed medicines. Assisting in the risk assessment of unlicensed medicines and maintain paperwork in accordance with SOPs. Dealing with any complaints resulting from supply shortages, referring to Lead Clinical Pharmacist if necessary. Ensuring the presentation and labelling medication complies with departmental, statutory and professional requirements. Ensuring that stock is received, checked and labelled (if required) in an efficient manner and reporting any issues immediately that would delay the availability of specific products. Informing other members of the pharmacy team about issues regarding safe and accurate dispensing, ensuring dispensing errors / incidents are documented.
