Job description
Senior Estimator role - £55k - £75k (depending on experience) + Car Allowance, Pension plus contributions, Private Health care - Based in Manchester
The client
An established contractor who specialises in large building projects has a requirement for a Senior Estimator. Projects include Hotels, Apartments, High end fit out. The tender values will vary between £15 and £75 million.
Duties
Monitor potential incoming enquiries.
Price bills/schedules analytically and produce quote comparisons using conquest estimating software
Complete tender pricing for adjudication by the tender committee, including reporting on any risks or onerous conditions, providing a winning edge
Developing the companies estimating library
Check tender documentation
Reviewing and understanding the requirements of the tender documents
Attending site visits with the assigned bid team
Agreeing and signing off specific resource requirements and outputs
Ensuring prices related to goods and services are fully understood and accurate
Reviewing the clients pricing schedules to understand the linkage/formulaes in arriving at the net price
Production of Bill of Quantities/Schedules
‘Build up’s’ of cost of resources for all activities, supervision and other on-costs
‘Building up’ a fee table in the case of framework contracts
Management of risk register
Compiling pricing clarifications
Production of the tender breakdown for adjudication and attendance at the meeting
Amendments in accordance with agreements
Contributing to post tender negotiations and review of pricing
Build relationships with Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Competitors
Maintain up-to-date market knowledge of labour, plant, materials and sub-contractors
Prepare & send out sub-contract & material enquiries using conquest enquiry system
Where required produce accurate take-off using Conquest
Manage, as directed, enquiries for labour, plant, materials and sub-contractors
Liaise with planner to assess programme & preliminaries
Conducting feasibility studies and writing procurement reports
Applying Value Management techniques at the outset of a project.
On secured projects prepare information for handover to the contract team
Measure tender against Decision Analysis
Inform Tender Committee on Contract Conditions
Essentials
Must have worked as a Senior build estimator / cost planner a pre construction team in a previous role
Must have some estimating software in a previous role (ideally ConQuest).
