Injection Mould Technician – Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, a leading injection moulding manufacturer based in Worcester, who are looking for a Mould Technician to join their growing team. The successful Injection Mould Technician will have an IMT Level 3 and have demonstrable application of SMED, tool trialling and NPI.
Salary: £32,000 – £36,000

Responsibilities:
- Fault findings and problem solving of development and production processes.
- Provide technical support to setters and the production team.
- Coach, motivate and manage setters, ensuring individual and group productivity.
- Oversee the training of Trainee Setters
- Maintain the skills matrix for the Technical Team
- Ensure machines/tooling are always optimised, minimising downtime.
- Ensure high quality standards in line with the customer expectations and assist managers in continuous improvement.
- Assist setters with tool changes including preparation, cleaning hoppers and material preparation.
- Reception and initial assessments of incoming tooling and equipment
- New tooling and sampling and maturation/optimisation
- Fixtures and program development to include current and new product introduction.
- Maintain highest standards of housekeeping in line with 5S protocols.
- Manage machine-operating systems to achieve Tier 1- level OEE.
- Continuous effort to reduced downtime and scrap levels.
- Suggest and implement cost-saving ideas.
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with 5S protocols.
- Cover shifts for setters when needed.
About You:
- Confident and conversant with plastic injection moulding products, processes, materials, tools, and equipment.
- IMT 3 is essential. Be open to working towards your IMT 4.
- Be a highly experienced setter/technician.
- Demonstrable application of SMED
- Demonstrate a continuous improvement/problem solving mindset.
- Good communicator at various levels, including occasional customer facing.
- Ability to coach and support a team.
- Willing to lean and embrace new ways of working and embrace ever-changing production demands or requirements.
- Be familiar with MRP systems and how they can be used to help resolve issues.
- Self-motivated, with an eye for detail
- Conscientious attitude to work
