As a Data Scientist you’ll have an interdisciplinary focus, using techniques and knowledge from a range of scientific and data science disciplines (for example, statistics, analytics, machine learning). You’ll facilitate the unlocking of valuable knowledge within large scale historic data sets as well as support the ongoing curation and learning from prospective data.
Our Data Scientist will support the development and design of the function’s vision, capabilities, infrastructure, and road map for the launch of data sciences capabilities across the Charity. They will also scope, design and implement machine learning models to support the numerous initiatives of the business and demonstrate the impact to the bottom line.
As our Data Scientist,you will:
Work closely with other Data and Analytics Teams, inclusive of clinical experts, academics and data engineers, in creating big data applications through the utilisation of structured and unstructured data, designing optimal data architecture, and experimenting on new machine learning techniques.
Draft regular reports, presenting recommended models and proposed strategies for approval.
Maintain a deep understanding of the business dynamics and take initiative to conduct exploratory data analyses and experimental designs to help the Charity better understand trends and behaviours of beneficiaries and settle on the most suitable approaches to drive commercial and intellectual value
To succeed as our Data Scientist, you will have:
Bachelor’s degree in statistics/data science/computer sciences or closely related.
Post-graduate degree in data science – at least MSc
Rich experience in information management system development (Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, Access) and NoSQL database in windows.
Experience in advance data analysis and big data, machine learning and natural language processing, knowledge management and semantic web (ontology)
Web-based tool development experience
Strong programming skills in R/Python/SQL
Good experience working with large scale data sets
