We are seeking a Permanent Pre-press Artwork Co-Ordinator for our client, Huhtamaki based in their Belfast site.
The role holder will be focused on producing work to a high-quality artwork standard. Working to customer’s specifications and Huhtamaki’s strict guidelines the role will include usage of applications such as ArtPro, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe photoshop, to create high quality/print ready graphic files for internal and external requirements, with responsibility for data accuracy/cost control and be able to sustain a high degree of attention within a fast paced and demanding environment. .
Responsibilities
- Understanding and complying with Esko Prepress and EFI Management System requirements for excellence in Prepress Data, quality, and Data security Management.
- The use of advanced graphic skills including creating and editing packaging artwork graphics, enhancing, and manipulating photographs, colour management, typography; etc.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of all Prepress Department processes and products, by reporting problems observed, and offering suggestions for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
- Accepting and interpreting customer briefs. Liaising directly with sales, customer service, design agencies and customers regarding artwork specifications relating to design and print issues, giving advice where necessary.
- Attend artwork meetings internally and externally as required.
- Working with all aspects of artwork including PDF approvals and stepped layouts before print.
- Efficiently and effectively support all print production processes, including quality inspections.
- When required attend print passes with the customer to sign off the job on press.
- The role holder may be required to undertake such other reasonable duties as may be required of him/her in the post, the department mentioned above or in the company.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3 years hands on experience in a similar role.
- Experience in prepress processes and proven ability to work with minimum supervision
- Proven experience in Apple and Windows operating systems
- Highly competent in artwork software packages such as Esko software Artpro/Artprot, adobe packaging software
- Working Knowledge of a client web-based packaging artwork review and approval portals
- Proven experience to pre-flight/inspect supplied artwork and prepare that artwork correctly for printing
- Highly proficient in building print ready Packaging artwork onto approval CAD files
- Educated to degree level within relevant discipline.
- Alternatively, candidates with no degree with at least 5 years relevant experience in a similar role may also be considered.
- Adobe Creative Suite skills such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat and colour correction and retouching to improve printability
- Esko Graphics software skills, especially Artpro to correct and retouch images in Photoshop
- Prepro & trapping processes and finalisation of packaging artwork files
- Digital prepress workflows, Rips, colour proofing systems and CTP equipment
- Print colour management software and X-rite equipment
- Production of print ready artwork from incorrect/poor quality files or copy supplied
- Awareness of cost control
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer and supplier relationships
- Ability to interpret Departmental requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Conceptual thinker able to research new ideas
- Ability to plan and organise workload effectively to meet specified deadlines
- Excellent customer service
- Innovative and highly creative whilst listening carefully to customer requirements
- Resilience, to deal with designs being rejected and being prepared to rework them, sometimes at short notice to meet customer requirements.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in Packaging/Carton design and prototyping
- Degree in Packaging Design
