Job Description
Role Summary/Purpose
The Lead Customer Application Engineer will be responsible for the coordination of all aspects of the ITO (Inquiry To Order) phase of tender preparation and management for the Power Conversion Rotating Machines business offerings. This includes technical scope development, cost estimation, risk management, and issue resolution for tenders to which they are allocated.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Preparation of tenders with supporting documentation.
- Track key dates (internal and external) and submission deadlines to ensure that the tenders are delivered on time.
- Support the business risk process from opportunity identification through to successful handover to the project team.
- Provide input for the technical solution, prepare or request costing and scheduling for each opportunity.
- Serve as the Sales team’s primary interface with internal functional groups as required.
- Request and coordinate bid-related tasks from the required resources (e.g., Engineering, Planning, Sales, Project Management...).
- Coordinate the technical/cost approval process for all tenders, as required.
- Enter information into the appropriate ITO tools (e.g., Salesforce.com, etc.) to ensure that all details are current and accurate.
- Support discussions with customers where required.
- Lead order handover meetings to the project teams.
Preferred Qualifications/Requirements
- Education in relevant Engineering qualification or previous experience in a Manufacturing business.
- Experience with rotating machines / international standards (IEC60034/NEMA MG:1).
- Experience in developing and writing specifications and/or tenders.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Ability to review technical specifications and compare against in-house capabilities.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional and global team environment.
