Kitchen Lead
Are you currently working in a kitchen and tired of late nights and every weekend? We may have the role for you. Due to a kitchen restructure, we are looking to recruit a kitchen lead in a busy residential home for the elderly.
The role is a newly created one and has been created to offer support and mentoring to our established catering team of a head cook, two cooks and two kitchen assistants. The duties of the role are to include, but not limited to:
•Creating daily menus, using locally sourced ingredients which are seasonally available and suit residents likes and dietary requirements within a budget given by senior management
•Recording nutritional values for meals
•Overseeing infection control procedures for the kitchen
•Completing audits of required documentations for environmental health/CQC
•Training other kitchen staff on requirements with regards to infection control and nutrition
•Helping evolve current employees with kitchen skills and knowledge
•Still being an active part of the catering team and cooking meals and required cleaning duties
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience:
•Steady and consistent background in catering, ideally in a care home although other industries would be considered.
•Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in catering and food hygiene
•Proven ability of team leading and mentoring
•Experience of creating menus
•Experience of managing a food budget
We are looking for someone to work between 35-40 hours per week, this will be done between the hours of 7.45am – 6pm based over a 7 day rota with a fair share of weekends and bank holidays (one weekend on one weekend off)
The applicant will need to pass a full DBS clearance check and be able to provide two satisfactory references. Full mandatory training for care home staff will be provided.
Salary up to £30,000 per year
