The primary purpose of the Cultural Safety Lead is to improve inclusivity within our maternity services for service users and our workforce. The post holder will take responsibility, in partnership with the senior management team, in improving the cultural safety of maternity services within their unit and across the North West London sector. This will include support for all protected characteristics, including, but not restricted to areas of race, sex, sexuality, gender identity and disability. The post holder will have responsibility for gathering information, reporting, raising awareness, training and working towards solutions in these areas as they relate to both service users and staff within maternity services.
• Demonstrate knowledge of all relevant policies and legislation in relation to equality, diversity and inclusion within the context of national governance policies and procedures
• Work with the senior midwifery team and LMNS team to assist in the implementation and operationalisation of all current and future policies and strategic directions with a cultural safety focus
• To work alongside hospital and community teams and senior midwifery staff to review midwifery practice and provide an expert opinion in maternity care, particularly focused on inclusivity
• To use key performance indicators (WRES and birth outcome data) to demonstrate ongoing added value of the role of Cultural Safety Lead
• Be involved in continuous monitoring and maintaining quality standards of clinical practice and care through a variety of ways; for example, audit
• To be responsible for the delivery of the LMNS equity and equality strategy
