Job description
Dekko Windows Systems are looking to appoint a Financial Controller. This is a key leadership role within the Finance team, whose role it is to help develop and drive a high performing finance team to support the Board of Directors and our parent company.
The Financial Controller ( FC ) will play a key role in the development and maintenance of financial controls, processes and systems and ensures that these are in line with statutory requirements.
The FC will supervise all accounting–related activities in the organisation and report into the UK MD.

The key duties include maintaining internal controls over financial reporting, presenting monthly management accounts and other financial reports to the Board of Directors. You will also have responsibility for submission of internal finance reports to our parent company on a timely basis. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the preparation of budgets.
We have an expectation that the candidate for the job will have strong leadership skills and an Interpersonal flair. You will need experience in leading financial teams and overseeing a company s financial control as well as reporting activities. Knowledge of change, best practices, experience in working with relevant financial and accounting software packages such as Sage (compulsory), and Cognos (advantageous) is also needed. The ability to demonstrate significant experience in accounting issues, plus the ability to guide others and take ownership of the company s financial records is paramount in this role.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide the Board of Directors with financial information by reviewing and producing accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including variance analysis against projections and historical trends, balance sheet reconciliations and cash flow forecasts while providing insightful verbal and written commentary. Full ownership of the month end management accounts, including presentation of results to the Board of Directors.
- Timely preparation of financial reports and submission to our parent company on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Own the preparation of annual cost budgets and re–forecasts.
- Demonstrate competent self–review and idea generation, together with problem solving skills and an ability to be sufficiently organised to ensure deadlines are met, whilst challenging existing processes and demonstrating a capacity to implement both new, and improvements to existing processes.
- Liaise with Office Heads, analysis and challenge of KPI metrics each month.
- Assist in the effective commercial and operational management of the business by attending meetings with departmental senior managers on a monthly basis to discuss results and highlight key risks and opportunities.
- Help execute an efficient and effective year–end audit process by undertaking advance audit planning, providing timely responses to external auditors queries where applicable, adhering to the deliverables timetable, and maintaining a strong working relationship with the external audit staff.
- Improve the effectiveness of the Finance Team by identifying and implementing process efficiencies within allocated responsibilities and tasks.
- Consolidate cash flow forecasts on a weekly / monthly basis, including presentation to CEO as well as monitoring and advising on key cash flow movements, dates, and balances.
- Preparing and submitting statutory accounts and other statutory obligations.
- Preparing quarterly VAT returns
- Managing the annual budgeting process, including liaising with commercial and operational teams.
- Designing, documenting, implementing, and maintaining best in class internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Identify and implement process improvements with a view to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Overview of payroll and PAYE returns which are currently outsourced
- Commercial and Operational business partnering with reporting on sales and operational performance. Creating internal policies and spend controls.
- Management of the Debtors and Creditors ledgers
Skills / Experience
- Practical experience of management accounting principles and techniques
- Solid knowledge of standard accountancy and finance best practices
- Solid IT skills, including proficiency in the relevant accounting packages.
- Strong analytical skills to effectively analyse financial reports.
- In–depth knowledge of budgeting and financial forecasting
- Prior experience of managing, motivating and developing a Finance or Accounts Receivable / Credit Control team
- Experience of developing and producing timely and accurate management reports providing clear, meaningful management information to stakeholders
- Good written and verbal communication skills coupled with the ability to reason, persuade and influence effectively.
- Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA) or will consider QBE
- Experience of finance systems, particularly Sage 50, Power BI, and proficient in Excel.

Dekko Window Systems are operating on an office based work–base policy and this role will be 5 days in the office.
We are offering up to GBP65000 per annum (DOE) as a basic salary.
