Based at GE Stafford, we have an exciting new opportunity for a Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) Prototype Technician to join our Industrialization team.
You will be using Surface Mount processes to manufacture new PCB’s products of mixed technologies to achieve and deliver rapid prototype production. Utilizing the latest and most up to date techniques in design for assembly and test:
• Cleaning Process
• Hand Assembly
• Rework techniques
• Automated manual Inspection Equipment
• All to IPC level 3 standard and flying probe testing.
Additionally providing feedback on manufacturability and design support back into the design and NPI process.

Role & Execution Responsibilities
Working with Process Engineers the role of the Prototype Technician is to manufacture new products of mixed technologies using Surface Mounted, Flow-solder, Cleaning, Hand Assembly, Rework, Inspection Techniques, test using Flying probe, while providing feedback on assembly and testability back into the design process.

Skills/Abilities
- Demonstrate a high level of initiative and ability to work independently. Competent in the use of Microsoft Office application (Excel, Word) would be an advantage.
- Train others in use of equipment and process techniques.
- Interpret manufacturing instructions, specifications, and drawings.
- Ability to interpret electronic component codifications and specifications to confirm correct application.
- Carry out daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly maintenance of equipment and machinery within the department.
- Ability to operate equipment and software packages for Pick and Place machines, Printers, Reflow oven, DI water and Cleaning Plant.
- Take reasonable care of your own safety, your colleague’s safety, and the environment. Comply with GE Health and Safety Policy and Environment Policy. Ensuring that the Company's quality, environment health & safety policies are adhered to.
Knowledge / Experience
Experience of working in a low volume Printed Circuit Board / Assembly environment in a technician type role in one or more of the following areas:
- PCB Assembly (Conventional and SMT)
- Understanding of assembly drawing component and Bill of material
- PCB Rework
- PCB components inspection
- PCB Testing using Flying probe would be an advantage.
- General Assembly.
Qualifications
- GCSE Grade D - English / Math or equivalent

- Able to actively participate in and contribute to meetings.
