Solutions Design is a critical function where success is dependent on working effectively with many other departments such as Operations, Business Development, IT and Finance across all levels.
We currently have an opening within the Solutions Design team for an experienced Solution Design Director – Transport . You will set Solution Design (SD) strategy governing direction and conduct, aligning to the business strategy at regional and global levels and steer the strategic development of the SD agenda for the UK&I region, including people development, solution skill sets and solution innovation in design across sectors.
You will drive to maximize the performance of the SD team by providing strategic leadership and coordination across all operating regions within the Supply Chain division and lead strategically significant SD programs and projects. The role holder will be accountable for sponsoring SD methodology & tools and will represent the SD function across the rest of DHL.
WHAT DOES THE ROLE ENTAIL?
As part of your normal duties, you will be responsible for:
- Lead SD effort in complex projects to deliver business growth for existing business.
- Full authority to shape Solutions Design within sub area with sign-off from SD Region Lead, SD Centre of Excellence, and Regional Stakeholders, including trainings and setting of standards and design methodology within the respective teams across the region.
- Interacts with Regional & Global Senior Management and project sponsors to ensure that the SD Team is meeting Regional & Global expectations.
- Lead Solutions Design Practice in the region.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with senior management of other internal functions and divisions (Business Development, Operations, Project Management, Risk, IT, HR, Finance, Legal, Real Estate).
- Successfully influences key stakeholders to ensure SD work stream deliverables are achieved & meet objectives for major projects.
- Proactively promotes community building across the region & globe to support the creation of networks with other key stakeholders for further knowledge sharing.
- Represent DHL in industry events as an expert in Logistics and Transportation when applicable in the region.
- Participates in key industry bodies and councils acting as a coach and advisor when applicable.
- Create organizational culture that supports and cultivates innovation.
- Manage Director level associates assigned to the SD pursuit team.
- Ensure quality management through process adherence to key SD Milestones (including statement of work, profiling and assumptions validation, cost models, etc)

WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?

- End to End Supply Chain experience.
- Consultative stakeholder management skills and able to facilitate discussions and negotiations both internal and external.
- Understanding of Business Development Process with prior Sales experience would be beneficial.
- Transportation, logistics and broader supply chain knowledge at a detailed level.
- Must have exposure to modelling of complex domestic transport network, logistics and transport operations.
- Relevant in-depth experience in solution design and transport management.
- Comfortable with Managing Data and Generating Reports.
