HCA – Health Care Assistant - Complex Care

Job Ref: JH/PR/NPH3

Hours: 12.5 hours per week / additional hours may be offered. Weekend working is required. Flexibility to cover days/nights in event of holidays/sickness

Shift patterns: 7.15am – 7.45pm or 7.15pm – 7.45am

Hourly rate of pay: £12.50 per hour.

Closing date 11.03.24

Location: Rothwell, Northamptonshire

We are look for experienced HCA to join our team to care for a 40 years old male with a severe learning disability and complex health needs, living in his own home in Rothwell, Northamptonshire. Supporting the client to maintain their health and social needs within the home and community. If you enjoy providing high quality care and feel you can bring the skills, experience and positive attitude we would like to hear from you. You must like dogs. Initially will be required to work day shifts to get to know the client alongside another HCA, until training is completed.

Training in all aspects of his care will be given. Some shifts will be in Northampton where he goes for respite, you will be required to make you own way there, milage allowance.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain good communication between the care team and parents.

Have a good clinical knowledge and competency of Tracheostomy and PEG management, Epilepsy and learning disability.

Support the client with all aspects of their care needs including:

personal care – includes washing, dressing, showering, toileting
medication administration
moving and handling, positioning
Tracheostomy and PEG management.
Social stimulation support
Work closely and maintain good communication between the care team to ensure the client has all their needs met.

Essential Experience

Have a good clinical knowledge of:
Learning disabilities – 12 months minimum experience
Car Driver over 25 for insurance purposes

Desirable Experience

PEG care
Tracheostomy care
Oral and tracheal suctioning
Medication administration
Moving and handling
Ideally will be flexible, have good organisational skills, be an excellent communicator and happy to work alone.
