Vulnerable children in the UK need your help

Wherever you work in the Action for Children family, you'll be helping to change the lives of the most vulnerable children in the UK.

Last year, we helped more than 670,000 children and families across the UK. From direct work in communities to national campaigning, we are focused on making sure every child has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.

Why Action for Children?

Working here is more than a job. Everyone in the Action for Children family is passionate about protecting and supporting children. It's the sense of purpose that drives us every single day. Because we know that, when we work together, we can make a huge difference to bring lasting improvements to vulnerable children's lives.

A bit about the role

A fantastic opportunity for a qualified counsellor to gain or strengthen their experience in a high school setting which has emerged within our established team in Glasgow. As a part of our supportive team, you'll receive monthly supervisions to meet regulatory requirements, guided by an experienced supervisor. Additionally, you'll be part of a supportive community of counsellors and practitioners within a large school-based team.

We're seeking counsellors to deliver a high-quality, school-based professional counselling service by effectively intervening, managing cases, and assessing the needs of secondary school students aged 12-18 years. Your role will ensure the provision of safe care and the achievement of positive outcomes in collaboration with the students.

As a member of a passionate broader team, your focus will be on promoting and enhancing the mental health, emotional resilience, and overall well-being of secondary school students who may be adversely affected or at risk of poor mental health. Your ability to engage effectively with young people will be crucial in providing counselling support, primarily within a school setting, although there may also be occasions requiring support in a local community or home setting.
