Job description
We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for an Estimating Engineer within our Engineering team to help support our Aerospace business. At L&P Aerospace, we specialize in creating complex tube and duct assemblies using high-performance materials capable of withstanding extreme pressure, temperature, and chemical interactions. How high are our quality standards, you ask? So much so, that we have products on-board the Space Launch System with NASA, as well as the F-15 and F-35 fighter jets! If you join our team, your work will ensure families across the world fly a little safer, wherever their travels may take them.
As an Estimating Engineering you will manage all estimating requests from external sales and internal requests. This role will also be the business lead and process owner for the repairs business. Able to manage and improve both processes through effective metric application.
Core Responsibilities
Creates and manages estimates requests from external sales and internal request (NPI, Repairs etc) for all related costs
Audits estimating process to constantly improve process to reduce operational and financial errors
Works with other business functions function to optimise process
Uses cost data to assess most cost effective methods/design of products
Able to work with customer to resolve more complex/ambiguous RFQs
Process owner for Repairs business
Supports processing of customer returns
Assesses repairs and returns requests and provides a rework solution
Manages and improves all process KPIs through improving tools and documentation
Other responsibilities as assigned
Experience:
Experience completing estimates
Experience owning processes and KPIs
Able to assess models and drawings through CAD
Able to create manufacturing sequences of multiple level assemblies
Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize with changing situations
Experience performing make vs buy assessments using cost data
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
Strong risk assessment skills
Experience using MRP systems
Good financial and commercial skills desirable
Education:
Degree in an engineering/science discipline or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectation.
