BBC STUDIOS – CARDIFF – BARGAIN HUNT RUNNER POOL

Bargain Hunt is BBC1’s popular daytime antiques series. It has been one of the nation’s favourite TV shows for 24 years and is broadcast almost every day of the year, regularly attracting more than 2 million viewers. The Cardiff-based production team makes 96 new episodes of the programme each year, including special episodes for BBC Children in Need, Blue Peter 65th Anniversary and Doctor Who 60thAnniversary episodes. We film with presenters, experts and contributors at antiques fairs and auctions across the UK.

We are looking for runners to join our busy production team in CARDIFF. Joining our Bargain Hunt pool of successful candidates will enable you to be offered work as and when opportunities arise on the production.

PLEASE NOTE: For this particular runner pool, It is essential you have a valid driving licence (and for insurance purposes be over the age of 23) as there will be a requirement to drive a van to and from locations around the UK using BBC issued vehicles.

This role is based in Roath Lock, Cardiff and runners need to be based within a commutable distance. The successful candidates will regularly go on location and must be prepared to be away for 2 nights at a time throughout the year. In general, normal office hours will apply, however the nature of the role means that a flexible approach to working time will be necessary.

Main Responsibilities
You will support the programme team in the office, on location and in post-production whilst undertaking general office duties including form filling, taking messages, photocopying, responding to correspondence, answering telephones, sourcing props and helping the casting team when required. You will assist the team on location and act as a point of contact for a range of contributors ensuring that these are given a positive image of the BBC and the department.

Are you the right candidate?
Experience of working in a production office
Experience of working as a runner on location
Valid driving licence (and for insurance purposes be over the age of 23) as there will be a requirement to drive to and from outside broadcasts using BBC issued vehicles
Familiarity with a variety of technical equipment used in broadcasting would be beneficial
Experience of dealing with contributors/talent/members of the public
