Job description
Motorsport & Automotive Global Supplier is recruiting a new Production Quality Engineer on a permanent basis located Thetford.
Provide hands-on quality engineering expertise to ensure our products and services meet customer requirements. Facilitate, train, and support the business in the deployment of Client's Quality improvement initiatives. Manage KPI's and ensure preventative actions are taken to maximise success.
Ensure supplier quality excellence, supporting purchasing and inspection and ensuring quality excellence is carried out within production and new
product designs. Aid productivity improvements with project-based activities, including new product introduction and manufacturing cell design to reduced waste, improve quality and safety, and reduce operating costs.
We are looking for someone with experience in high volume production (preferably OEM) of automotive, electronics or defence/aerospace industries.
Roles and Responsibilities-
• Collaborate with production, supplier quality and engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design. Make recommendations to modify product and process specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production.
• Provide quality engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques.
• Resolve quality issues of capability, materials-related trials, and related issues.
• Resolve quality issues by identifying problems, examining solution options, implementing action plans, and providing resources.
• Effectively communicate and reinforce the commitment the company makes to quality improvement efforts.
• Working with Engineering division in pre-production process ensuring quality excellence is achieved on product prior to release to production.
• Working closely with Process engineering team to ensure pre-production process is supported and quality information is gathered and reported before product release.
• Participate in the use of a Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) where required.
• Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and effective corrective action.
• Coordinate with Sales, Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and Process Engineering to resolve customer concerns.
• Apply appropriate Measurement System Analysis tools and define, manage, and report on the production key performance indicators (KPI's)
• Recommend and implement enhancements to the quality system that result in improved quality performance, increased customer satisfaction, and/or simplification of processes to reduce costs.
• Perform internal audits as required and provide ongoing communication/reporting of results.
• Participate in the reporting, analysis and review of product and process performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Supporting mechanical inspection quality decisions and investigations with a view to reducing engineering support resources.
• To maintain, manage and improve non-conformance reporting (NCR) system and allocation of tasks as part of Defective Material Notification (DMN) review.
- IT literate, proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Practical knowledge of ISO/IATF Standards.
- Proven experience of Product/Production Quality Engineering and Control within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of participating in projects as Quality Engineer.
- Experience of effective problem-solving techniques (8D, DMAIC, etc.)
- Experience of process management.
- Proven track record of driving continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in high volume (preferably OEM) of automotive, electronics or defence/aerospace industries.
