Job description
Priory Hospital Southampton has employed Consultant Psychiatrists and well established multidisciplinary teams on all wards including Nursing, Dietetics, Social Work, Occupational Therapy and Psychology.
The Hospital provides NHS funded care and has been rated "Good" in all domains with our regulator, the Care Quality Commission. Our eating disorder service has also achieved accreditation with QED and we are working towards AIMS accreditation on our acute wards.
We are located in Marchwood on the outskirts of Southampton and comprises of 42 inpatient beds across three wards.
- Sandpiper Ward: 18 bed acute admission ward, mixed gender.
- Skylark Ward: 11 bed specialist eating disorder ward, mixed gender. (Soon to be 13 bed, April 2024.)
- Starling Ward: 13 bed acute admissions inpatient ward, mixed gender.
We are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic individual who is looking for the opportunity to work alongside likeminded people within the Senior Management Team. The Director of Clinical Services (DoCS) is a pivotal role in ensuring high quality clinical care and robust clinical governance processes within the Hospital.
Working in close collaboration with the Hospital Director, Ward Managers, Medical Director and the on site quality team, this role will be at the forefront of patient centred care working towards achieving an OUTSTANDING rating with CQC.
The post-holder will be responsible for assuring and improving the quality of care given to patients. Using their own initiative and drawing on Priory and wider healthcare best practice, the post-holder will lead on ensuring the Hospital has the systems, knowledge and culture in place to deliver, consistently: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led care. The post-holder has a key role in representing the quality case to stakeholders including the wider Priory Group, CQC and NHSE.
We are looking for someone with the following skill set: • Excellent organisational abilities, able to meet deadlines • Ability to lead from the front and support all wards clinically • Be forward thinking and able to challenge • Be a role model & mentor to clinical staff - providing advice and support to promote good practice • Have experience in Clinical Governance inspection planning and procedures, audit and reporting • Be proficient in the sharing of clinical best practice from national bodies such as the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) • NMC (Nursing & Midwifery Council registered) • Have a minimum of 5 years frontline clinical or equivalent experience • Have at least 18 months experience at Ward Manager level or equivalent and clear experience or knowledge of the following:
