Job description
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary : Grade F: £28,770 to £31,364 - plus pension, continuing training, tool allowance and enhanced rates where shift pattern applicable. This post currently attracts a discretionary market supplement up to a maximum of £2,594 per annum, in accordance with the Council’s Market Forces Scheme and is subject to annual review.
Hours: 36 Hours per week plus additional contracted hours during November to March
Base Location: Tame Street Depot

Based at Tame Street, Stalybridge, you will be an enthusiastic and talented HGV vehicle mechanic with the drive to keep our Transport Fleet on the move.
This is an opportunity to utilise, and further develop your existing skills carrying out routine maintenance, testing, diagnostic and repair work to our large fleet of HGV’s, light vehicles, plant and specialist equipment. You will be joining a team of vehicle/plant fitters and have a manager who is supportive and keen to facilitate your development.
You should be organised, have good written and oral communication skills, be customer focused, hold a current driving licence (LGV Category C desirable) and trained to NVQ Level 3/City &Guilds (or equivalent) in a Heavy Vehicle Maintenance/Repair discipline. If you’re from a light vehicle or agricultural background, you are encouraged to apply.
