Payment & Operations Product Owner
Overview
This role is a business critical role managing multiple finance projects, prioritising the product backlog, and understanding the needs of Finance Operations to drive the development of the product.
Over 25 applications are utilised by the Finance Operations Team, so a key responsibility of this role is to ensure finance projects are finished on time, within budget, and have met business objectives.
The role reporting directly into the Financial Controller for Payments and Operations.
Responsibilities
- Acts as the primary advocate for the Finance Operations Team, ensuring that their needs and expectations are represented in the product backlog and development process.
- Develops a deep understanding of Finance Operations needs, desires, and pain points, and uses this knowledge to guide product development.
- Collaborates closely with stakeholders (e.g. customers, partners, senior stakeholders, and other departments) to gather feedback and insights, and incorporates this feedback into the product backlog and development process.
- Defines and prioritises product backlog items based on the value they will deliver to the team, and ensures that the development team has a clear understanding of our needs and expectations.
- Monitors the product's performance and gathers feedback from customers, using data-driven insights to make informed decisions and prioritise future improvements.
- Balances competing demands and priorities, taking into account the needs of stakeholders, Finance Operations, and the development team.
- Communicates decisions and rationale clearly and effectively to the development team and stakeholders, ensuring that everyone is aligned and working towards the same goals.
- Maintains a focus on the big picture, while also being attentive to details and ensuring that the product is meeting the highest standards of quality and usability
Experience
- Educated to a business degree or equivalent
- Certified Agile Product Owner (desirable)
- Experience of managing a portfolio of developments ideally for Finance related systems
- Gathering end user requirements and project reporting
