The Legal Services Directorate at Avon and Somerset Police is offering an exciting opportunity for a lawyer to work in the field of Police Misconduct . We are seeking a lawyer who is motivated to make a real difference to one of the organisation’s key objectives of upholding and maintaining community and public confidence.
You will work closely alongside our Professional Standards colleagues by providing advice and guidance on a full range of misconduct matters. You will form part of a wider Legal Services team who provide a comprehensive range of legal advice and representation to the Chief Constable and Police and Crime Commissioner.
The successful candidate will work alongside and under guidance of the senior lawyer for Employment and Misconduct.
We are a friendly team with a strong emphasis on teamwork and creating a supportive working environment.
We welcome applications from lawyers with a background in regulatory work, experience in police law or seeking a new challenge.

This is a permanent vacancy on a full time basis working 37 hours per week. This role is blended therefore you will be able to work from home the majority of the time, however, you will need to attend court as required within the Avon and Somerset Police area. Please note that your work location will be Avon and Somerset Police & Fire Headquarters, Portishead.
This role attracts a £3,000 market factor payment in addition to the basic salary, which is an additional supplement payment in line with certain market factors and is subject to an annual review.
To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 5 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 5 years.

The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises.
