What you will do in your working day

Your duties will include:

• Working with engineers to gain a solid foundation of engineering, locate, and rectify faults on equipment, read, understand and interpret information and work in compliance with technical specifications and supporting documentation
• Learning within your area of specialism (mechanical / electrical)
• Receive on the job and off the job training
• Maintain H&S; Quality and Environmental Standards as per the relevant Regulations and Manuals

It is a requirement of the role that you attend college classes as outlined by the learning provider and participate in ongoing assessments both theory and practical.

The training you will be getting

Year 1 of the Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard, the learner will attend four days a week within IPS Rochester workshop completing practical skills (Performing Engineering Operations) and one day a week studying the Technical Certificate.

In Year 2, the Apprentice moves to day-release and will attend IPS one day a week to continue the Technical Certificate. Starting in Year 2 and continuing until completion in Year 4. The Apprentice will continue to receive regular training contact with IPS all throughout the programme.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there is the possibility of a permanent position within the company as an Engineer.
