Job description
An exciting opportunity exists for an Orthotist, to join the Orthotics department at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust set within Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge Hospitals which, are within commutable distance of Liverpool, Chester and Manchester as well as neighbouring North Wales.
The role is suitable for new and recent graduates, as well as those with orthotic experience looking to develop their skills within a supportive and nurturing environment. This is a friendly, dynamic orthotic team and a great opportunity to gain experience working in an acute hospital setting. The successful candidate will have dedicated CPD time as well as working closely with more experienced team members to enhance knowledge and develop clinical skills.
This is a varied clinical role with inpatient and outpatient clinics and cover a range of areas including: orthopaedic foot and ankle, diabetic foot, neurology, paediatric and traumatic spinal injury. The team at WUTH work closely with their medical and AHP colleagues.
The successful candidate will join a team of 4 Orthotists and have access to an on site workshop, the use of digital workflow and will be encouraged to explore innovative technology. It is a team where clinicians are encouraged to be actively involved in their own development and the improvement of the department.

• Maintain professional registration with HCPC.
• Abide by HCPC code of conduct for Prothetists/ Orthotists.
• Maintain clinical records in line with HCPC and local guidelines.
• Maintaining a record of continued professional development (CPD)
• Work within British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists (BAPO) Standards for Best Practice.
• Contribute to promoting the profession in the local community and with the wider medical and AHP workforce.
• Provide training to members of the MDT regarding the use of orthosis.
• Responsible for the delivery of Orthotic clinical care including patient
assessment and advice, devising treatment plans to facilitate patient
goals and monitoring patients a required.
• Accurately measure, cast or capture body segment impression to allow for a suitable orthosis to be prescribed/ manufactured.
• Responsible for the safe provision of Orthotic equipment and specification of bespoke devices including materials, design and componentry. Ensure all risks are minimised and documented appropriately.
• Responsible for accurate recording of clinical findings and maintaining
records in confidential and sensitive manner in line with HPC, Caldicott regulations and Trust Policy.
• Responsible for ensuring prescription decisions are made within best
clinical judgement in a cost effective manner to provide high quality, best value Orthotic clinical care.
• To provide Orthotic treatment and where necessary liaise with other
healthcare professionals to ensure clinical continuity.
